The kids are all great, but the standout is McKenna, who turns Piggy into a pitiable hero who finds that sometimes decency simply doesn’t pay. Go to Full Review

It understands why the story has resonated for over 70 years, and become a middle school English class perennial -- and the ways in which it feels especially, unfortunately, timely at the moment. Go to Full Review

Some sequences, like the first wild boar hunt, are filmed by Munden in a way that puts you right there with the boys -- and as the boys transform from frightened to feral, it's hard to shake, and to forget. Go to Full Review

It’s impossible to watch without seeing the parallels to modern America, which says something genuinely chilling about the durability of Golding’s thesis: this isn’t a cautionary tale. It was a goddamn crystal ball. Go to Full Review

Its freshness comes through its visceral, colorful, and animalistic presentation, remaining true to the source material while digging even deeper into the emotional nuances of its characters. Go to Full Review

Jim B. @RT52973177 14h Grating music, distracting cinematography and slow pace ruined the great casting and acting of the kids. I'm the right hands I think it could be recut into a great 2 hour movie, but this show was destroyed in the editing room by someone who tried way too hard to be artsy. It felt like it was trying to be a horror movie mixed with an art museum, but it was completely disconnected from what was actually going on. Shame that so much good work was spoiled. See more Shep H. @RT09193487 14h Lord of the Flies is a feat in of itself. The slow pacing allows the madness and terror to slowly unfold as the viewer beholds the abhorrent changes that evidently occur between characters and their interactions. Dark silhouettes and masterful cinematography allow it to become what it truly is supposed to be; a work of art, and a cautionary tale that extends beyond the border of any limited series Netflix has put out so far. I was shocked at the terrifying nature of the beast, and the kind of tension that never seems to leave even beyond the last seconds of the finale (which leaves you to determine the course of each characters fate, and the unseen regret they feel for the primal state that was only realized by their respective wills). Some scenes shocked me and left me feeling uncomfortable in a surreal way, which only added to the unique vision of this adaptation. I felt heartbreak, I felt terror, and I feel terrible that people are review bombing the show because they’re arrogant See more D R @RT74416096 23h I was looking forward to this but disappointed! Super boring and just weird. Characters are annoying to watch. I couldn’t finish the episodes. See more Lily R @RT45826155 1d Because of the low audience reviews, and as an avid lover of the book, I expected to really dislike this adaptation. But what the show did with Simon/Jack's past, the cinematography, and such great actors really surprised me. Now, I still got a little upset when big changes were made, but overall I was really pleasantly surprised! See more Logan B. @Broccoli1714 1d Nothing like the book, too many high pitch sounds for an extended period of time, too many extended filler scenes ( maybe because they’re focused on things nothing like the book) See more Peter K @Vacadoug 1d Actors were great but production was a bit too choppy and strayed away from the core of the classic 1954 novel. I preferred the original in 1963 that had much more depth and did not get mired in make-up details. See more Read all reviews
