All of Amadeus’s contemporaneous stylistic and dialogue choices are a blast, but the series’ suggestion that this kind of guy is plaguing our present, too, feels the most timeless, and the most unsettling. Go to Full Review

It does what every worthwhile adaptation does (and what so many other recent re-adaptations have failed to do), which is make the story feel complete unto itself. Go to Full Review

The music, the sets, the costumes—all gorgeous—but pallid imitation fails as sincere flattery in this overstuffed, five-part streaming version of a Tony winning play and Oscar-winning movie. Go to Full Review

Amadeus works as a series, not just because it looks fantastic, but that the main characters are treated as the nuanced people they were, and there seems to be less filler than one might expect. Go to Full Review

Ann V @RottenorNot 3d Creatively bankrupt Sometimes I wonder who allowed some TV shows to be greenlit. This one should have perished and not been allowed to be made into a show. Honestly, just stop and pick up the Oscar winning movie and compare them. This show is a pale comparison. This show was unnecessary and frankly insulting to the 1984 masterpiece. The tv show is visually soulless. The writing is quite possibly the most jarring anachronistic monstrosity ever. The music? Barely there, shoved aside. A bad adaptation all around See more alan G @agenser 4d Completely untrue. Mozart and Salieri had a good relationship. This is just a repeat of the movie whivh was seriously flawed. See more Rick S. @RickS 4d So far, I give it 3 stars. I understand that this is a new interpretation of a fictional play about two real people. That provides a lot of latitude. The movie is brilliant, so there is a huge shadow over this production. Unlike others, though, I am not bothered by the color-blind casting. The actors are all giving interesting performances, and their ethnicity isn’t going to ruin my enjoyment. But Hulse and Abraham gave iconic performances in the film that make these feel rather tepid. Maybe with the extra time available to develop story and character, this is a smart approach. Anyway, I am intrigued enough to keep watching. See more Joanne L. @Joanne158 6d I think i’m watching a parody. See more Drew G @thekid69 May 7 The casting choices are modern reimagining bad. See more Kathleen M @RT22211211 May 5 Considering it’s competing against an award winning movie from 1984 with Tom Hulce and F Murray Abraham. I thought it was a different take on their relationship, but the composition are the bonus See more Read all reviews
