From the delightfully wicked minds of Henry Selick and Jordan Peele, comes Wendell & Wild, an animated tale about scheming demon brothers Wendell (Keegan-Michael Key) and Wild (Peele) -- who enlist the aid of 13-year-old Kat Elliot -- a tough teen with a load of guilt -- to summon them to the Land of the Living. But what Kat demands in return leads to a brilliantly bizarre and comedic adventure like no other, an animated fantasy that defies the law of life and death, all told through the handmade artistry of stop motion.

This needs a lot more chaos energy to power it past the rough spots. None of this should detract from the movie’s good elements and better-angels best intentions. Go to Full Review

In 2009, it was considered almost shocking when Pixar’s Up addressed the subject of death... But while that door is now open, Henry Selick’s Wendell & Wild finds inventive ways to blow the hinges off. Go to Full Review

Clark C 10/23/2022 Fantastic visuals and beautiful animation but a terrible script. Not involving, not well conceived. See more camera T @juliaugust 10h broken by a severe identity crisis that alienates every potential audience. Rated PG-13, it sits in an awkward limbo: its far too dark, politically heavy, and saturated with casual occultism for kids, yet too juvenile and cartoonish to engage adults. The plot goal is entirely choked out by an overstuffed narrative, rather than focusing on its main character, the film forces a clunky, preachy message about the private prison industrial complex alongside bizarre lore featuring a "Hell Maiden" summoning demons with blood rituals and a demonic toy named "Bear-ze-bub." By treating its underworld elements with a mix of irreverence and literal torture, it fumbles any coherent moral framework about good versus evil, replacing genuine storytelling with chaotic, unearned resolution. It is a confusing, tonally deaf misfire that simply isn't worth anyone's time. See more Bob B @Heyitsbob Feb 9 This movie its not for children. Its teaching transgenderficaction.
