Critics Consensus

Treading water between gnarly kills, Thrash dishes some old-fashioned jolts but would've had more bite if its human characters were more compelling chum.

More shallow than The Shallows, and lacking the depth of even Deep Blue Sea, this has chuckle-worthy moments but will be forgotten roughly 47 metres down in the lower-echelons of shark cinema. Go to Full Review

Nothing in Thrash is going to wow Steven Spielberg, and its adherence to plot logic is elastic to say the least. But as bloody, dumb shark thrillers go, it stays afloat. Go to Full Review

This is a Netflix and Chomp movie, just 80 minutes long (if you don’t count the closing credits), and the compact run time does more than keep “Thrash” from wearing out its welcome. Go to Full Review

Lots of unforgivable things happen in Thrash, none of which involve the sharks, who are righteous in their appetite. Go to Full Review

Despite the abundance of script issues, Thrash proves to be a fun, brisk nature-run-amok film. Think Crawl with sharks. Go to Full Review

Misty L @MightyMisty 1d This was a well made shark movie with all the expected scares you’d want from the genre. Fast paced, entertaining, and consistently tense from beginning to end. Don’t go in expecting some high concept reinvention of the shark movie. Thrash knows exactly what it is and delivers on that. What really made the film work for me, though, was Phoebe Dynevor’s performance as the pregnant woman at the center of the story. She felt completely believable and grounded, which gave the movie emotional weight beyond the usual shark thriller. See more Dee M @DeTheatre 4d Thrash is Trash. They stole everything from a much better movie "Crawl" See more Daniel L @RT19281712 4d I thought the movie was mid overall. It had some entertaining moments, but it felt like it copied a lot of ideas from Crawl. The flood and survival concept was interesting, but nothing really felt original or memorable to me. The movie was okay to watch once, but not something I would watch again. See more Rudy N @Updownview 5d I would compare this terrible movie to "2012" with John Cusac. Just so much nonsensical crap. Category 5 hurricane that while your listening to them talk, the wind stops, rain stops... everything that makes a hurricane ceases to exist and then becomes a remix of "Jaws". This movie was someone who couldn't decide what to do and threw everything they could into action that deals with water. See more Deborah C. @RT81896707 5d It reminds me of another Hurricane movie Crawl. They both were good Crawl had me on the edge of my seat.
