While still a teen himself, Donny (Adam Sandler) fathered a son, Todd (Andy Samberg), and raised him as a single parent. On Todd's 18th birthday, Donny cut the youth loose. After years of estrangement, the older man shows up unexpectedly on the eve of his son's wedding day, sending the young man's life into a tailspin. Donny wants desperately to reconnect with Todd, but he must now deal with the repercussions of the bad parenting he exhibited in the past.

Critics Consensus

While it does represent a new foray into raunch for the normally PG-13 Sandler, That's My Boy finds him repeating himself to diminishing effect - and dragging Andy Samberg down with him.

Sandler continues to play the same idiot character he has done since "Billy Madison" and "Happy Gilmore," but the difference is this guy lacks any of the innocent charm that helped make those movies work.

That's My Boy is a crude, over-the-top comedy, but it at least has bursts of energy and a few moments that actually land better than expected. While it’s far from perfect, it has a more consistent sense of humor and pacing that keeps it somewhat watchable. In comparison, Jack and Jill feels much more forced and repetitive, relying heavily on gags that quickly wear thin. The humor is less effective overall, and the film struggles to maintain any real momentum or comedic variety. Overall, neither film is particularly strong, but That’s My Boy comes out slightly ahead simply because it manages to be a bit more entertaining and less draining to sit through. Still, both are rough watches in their own way. I rate it a 2/10.

I have been told I like stupid movies. Well, proud of it. Yes, this movies has some controversy and let's face it, would not be made now. But just thinking about some of my favorite scenes has me laughing my ass off right now. The "He Time" spa scene spitting out the herbal water, I truly thought my lung would fall out I was laughing so hard. Judge me if you must but I love this movie. I love Sandler, I love Samberg and I love Lonely Island. Milo is hilarious too in this movie.

It's Adam Sandler. You get what you pay for: an hour and a half of goofy, testosterone fueled fun. If you need a deeper puddle, go elsewhere.
