Siddharth, an antique dealer scouts old, abandoned forts in a remote Rajasthan village. The region has recently been rocked by a series of violent killings. As the local cop Surekha Singh investigates these killings, he crosses paths with Siddharth and soon realizes that the ruggedly handsome antique dealer is not who he seems and that his intentions may be far more devious.

This stunning landscape and the haunting soundscape becomes the site of a 'bawandar' (storm). These sights and sounds of Thar will stay with me, even as I quibble about some of it.

Thar is a film that lives up to its name. The Great Indian Desert is the real protagonist of Raj Singh Chaudhury’s film. Beyond the eerie vistas and ominous landscape, there is little more to the film.

Thar has a few sharp edges, but it promises much more than it actually delivers. Vengeance, says a character, is a double-edged sword. In Thar, it has the feel of a mirage. It is bloody all right, but is far too pale to knock us out of our wits.

Horrible movie, completely mindless. Inferior story. The only thing watchable are the Thar landscapes. Anil Kapoor does act well but his son's acting is mediocre

Entire movie was so dull. Nothing was gripping except Anil Kapoor and Satish Kaushik's performance. Why was everyone talking in the same monotone? It's so goddamn slow with the plot taking its own sweet time like there are some major twists and turns waiting, except there are none. It's just a plain revenge story that takes forever to reach its cliched conclusion. Watching the story drag on was more of a torture than the one inflicted on screen. An unrewarding slugfest and a total waste of Anurag Kashyap's writing!
