After years of slapdash sequels and waning fandom, the Camp Miasma slasher franchise is handed over to an enthusiastic young director (Hannah Einbinder, Hacks) for resurrection. But when she visits the original movie's star (Gillian Anderson, The X-Files), a now-reclusive actress shrouded in mystery, the two women fall into a blood-soaked world of desire, fear, and delirium.

It’s a highly personal work, a defense of problematic favs, and a movie that only Jane Schoenbrun could make. Let them guide you, and they’ll take you where you need to go. Go to Full Review

When Schoenbrun’s movie does give its main character everything she wants, it doesn’t play like a withdrawal into the past at all but something more poignant — a means of reconnecting with some part of that initial encounter with a work that moved her. Go to Full Review

Schoenbrun has a clear queer lens when creating films. They know what viewers want to connect with. It is a longing that many young queers find themselves having. An infatuation with someone older than them whom they wish to become close with. Go to Full Review

Inside the film also lies Schoenbrun’s most elaborate directorial vision to date, as their use 80’s and 90’s needle drops blends through the metaphorically sexual, campy, cartoonish violence that Little Death lays down throughout the film. Go to Full Review
