Seeing the United States and the Soviet Union engaged in a nuclear arms race that could lead to Earth's destruction, Superman (Christopher Reeve) decides that he must take action. He collects all the nuclear warheads from the world and throws them into space. Meanwhile, Superman's nemesis, Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman), has broken out of prison with a new scheme. He clones Superman with radioactive material to create Nuclear Man (Mark Pillow), a being just as powerful as the man of steel.

2.5 because it's so bad that it's almost good. Fun to laugh at... plus Christopher Reeve and great soundtrack/theme song by John WIlliams... so... I'll give it an amazing 2.5 stars.

Not the complete disaster, reputed to be, But the weaknesses outweigh a few strong elements, The strong : nice seeing Clark going back to Smallville to take over family farm, Nice seeing the Daily Planet crew back - Lois, Jimmy, Perry, and Margot Kidder all get to do a lot more, And there's a nice romance between Mariel and Clark, and I teared up during Clark's dying sickness, and Superman's cape falling past the Statue of Liberty. All great, The weak - way too campy villian, Nuclear Man, Poorly staged battles, shoddy amatuerish fx, Movie seems to have gone thru heavy editing to cut down on running time, with abrupt scene changes, Jon Cryer is wasted, Gene Hackman seems to be having fun, but attempts to capture the magic of the first 2 movies fails, Finding out movie ran out of money, explains the jumps in plot, and whole scenes awkwardly missing,

Man, I love Christopher Reeves Superman so much but man this was sad because this film is an insult to his career and his legacy and that goes far beyond the failure of Superman 3 and this movie was an absolute disaster to watch because this represent my hatred for bad superhero movies, I hate this movie so much man, this is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen in my life and that goes for the CGI that was terrible and also the plot is awful and nuclear man is one of the worst villains ever, please don’t watch it. I know people hate it because how badly it was directed and the horrendous VFX. But I feel it captures Superman better than snyderverse. Had this a good director, story a bit tidied up with excellent VFX team, and some proper research into what Superman's abilities are, would have definitely made a great film.
