Will Rodman, a scientist in San Francisco, is experimenting with a drug that he hopes will cure his father's Alzheimer's disease. After his work is deemed a failure, Will becomes the guardian of Caesar, an infant chimp who was exposed in utero to Will's drug. Caesar displays unusual intelligence, and Will decides to continue his experiments secretly. But as Caesar's intellect and abilities grow, he comes to represent a threat to man's dominion over Earth.

this movie was my guilty pleasure all throughout my childhood. I had it on CD & watched it all the time, it never got old. now as an adult, i watch it & still get those same chills and rush of adrenaline at how well caesar’s character becoming was depicted. you really feel him. he was an innocent, shielded, misunderstood, & loved chimp who suddenly got ripped away from his family after a tragic event—only to be thrown into the pits of abuse. he quickly realizes that he’s different. that humans outside of his home are not on his side. he quickly resolves the issue. caesar subjected them to the virus he was born with then rallied them boys up, taught them sign & busted them up out them cells. he was a loyal leader. the apes put their lives on the line for him and so they’d be free. in the end, he chose to lead his own kind to a new life despite his love for his human.
