Ponciroli has met the challenge of telling a story without dialogue by dumbing his film down and engaging in meathead spectacle. The film's shallowness speaks volumes.

Shailene Woodley is excellent as John's paramour Sophia. Woodley is totally at ease with her craft in this portrayal of a fully-rounded gangster's moll, neither manipulative femme fatale nor weeping love interest.

Motor City buffet[s] the wordlessness with excellent stuntwork and a largely game cast. Nonetheless, ultimately a middling revenge film whose shortcomings undermine any argument that the results are worth the dialogue sacrificed.

oh the action was great, the fights were great. my issue is, the whole reason for the events of this movie are that a man who was clearing getting played to make another man jealous, could've just walked away. I would. He didn't. That is stupid to me. No woman you just met is worth the hell and destruction this dude brought on himself.

Genuinely as great as you can get with maybe 5 lines of dialogue in the whole movie. In order to get a movie like this right, everything outside of dialogue has to go perfectly. Sound design, needle drops, cinematography, and physical / facial acting need to be on 10 and I believe this cast and crew did just that. Alan Ritchson continues to create an all-time action star legacy while having the acting chops to go along with it. I’m thoroughly impressed by this modern experimental classic
