Lord Rayden (Christopher Lambert) handpicks three martial artists -- federal agent Sonya Blade (Bridgette Wilson), Shaolin monk Liu Kang (Robin Shou) and action movie sensation Johnny Cage (Linden Ashby) -- and mentors them. After intense training, Rayden transports the trio to Outworld, the site of an interdimensional fighting tournament. There, the three humans must defeat the demonic warriors of the evil Shang Tsung (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa) -- or allow Tsung to take over the Earth.

Critics Consensus

Despite an effective otherwordly atmosphere and appropriately cheesy visuals, Mortal Kombat suffers from its poorly constructed plot, laughable dialogue, and subpar acting.

See more Devan B. @RT02127305 12h It may not be a great standard movie by some standards. But Definitely is a great Mortal Kombat movie. And the best part of the movie (pointed out by my favorite fighting game content creator: Maximilian Dood) it’s PG-13 and you didn’t even notice it. See more Drew M. @Stonehands211 May 4 The best video game adaptation of all time. Still rules. See more Andrew R @HorrorMovieLover458 May 2 Such a fun movie. Just low budget fun.
