Claudio C @Claudio666 Dec 8 Underrated Version of the Classic Story (12,113 – 07 Dec 2025) In 1794, in the Arctic Sea, Captain Robert Walton is a man obsessed to reach the North Pole, pushing his crew to the exhaustion. When his ship hits an iceberg, she is stranded in the ice. Out of the blue, Captain Walton and his men overhear a dreadful cry, and they see a stranger coming to the ship. He introduces himself as Victor Frankenstein and he tells the captain the story of his life since he was a little boy in Geneva. "Frankenstein" is an underrated version of the classic story. Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the dramatic story was not well accepted by the professional critics and many viewers. I saw this movie in 1995, in 2013 and I just saw it yesterday, and it is a great movie that has not aged. Unfortunately, I have never read the novel by Mary Shelley to compare it with this version with Guillermo Del Toro’s one. My vote is eight. See more Christopher L @Mongooseman Oct 15 I really enjoyed so many elements of this film visually, and I thought De Niro made a great monster, however this is overall a pretty difficult movie to get through. Cringe worthy in so many places and overly dramatic when it should play its cards more subtle and somber. This could have been a home run with a more seasoned director. Worth one watch just to say you’ve seen it and for De Niro, and that’s only if you’re having a hard time finding something to watch. See more Read all reviews
