Basically, Kasdan has created a celebration of his pal, whose life apparently consisted of little else besides acting in comedy projects onstage and onscreen and throwing parties with his rich and famous friends. Go to Full Review

One of the more interesting things that Marty, Life Is Short does to stand out from the slew of other recent biographical documentaries is adopt a slightly meta approach to the whole process. Go to Full Review

I’m sure there’s a dry, professionally distanced documentary to be made about Short’s career, his varied professional arc and his myriad achievements, but Life Is Short mostly isn’t that documentary. Go to Full Review

In this big-hearted, tribute-packed documentary, Oscar-nominated director Lawrence Kasdan tenderly guides us through a carefully calibrated account of the comedian’s alternately triumphant and tragic life. Go to Full Review

Few stalwarts of comedy have seen such a contrast between very happy and unimaginably sad as Martin Short. Go to Full Review

Lotsa of life-is-tragic revelations in this, and it occurred to me that only a comic force like Marty Short could survive, as his nature counteracts his tragedies. Anywho, glad to see him get his due, and director Lawrence Kasdan does him proud. Go to Full Review

Kim P @RT98672688 12h Martin Short is one of those rare talents who transcends his lack of success in numerous endeavors through the sheer force of his joyful and energetic personality. This documentary shed some light on how greatly humor and positivity can enhance, not only one's own life, but the lives of anyone close to them. His successes are shown, as well as his failures (mostly box office under-performers) and he seems to be hitting his stride as his talk show appearances and Jiminy Glick routines garner more views on streaming than they did when originally aired. His Only Murders in the Building role and his stage show with Steve Martin are essentially Martin Short at the top of his game. Probably the most compelling aspect of this movie are the many testimonials and clips that document one of the strongest, healthiest relationships in show business...his life with his wife, Nancy. A truly enjoyable film. See more Rick K @RT62299208 13h Marty has his ups and downs yet keeps a smile on his face and has fun with life. Wonderful to see a star whose priorities are family and friends. Watched it twice already. The home movies make this biography real. See more Walter W @RT71869229 16h Comedy icon Martin Short isn’t dead…yet! However, filmmaker Lawrence Kasdan thought now is a good time to reflect on Short’s relatively long life and have an obit ready…just in case. Martin’s is a life fuelled by joy! and so is this tribute to him. This 1 hour 41 minute Netflix documentary never feels boring. It reveals never-before-seen home movies with Martin’s beautiful family, wife and adopted children, plus an endless parade of celebrity friends and some of his classic character film clips. Martin’s philosophy on death is one thing that’s pulled him through so many tragedy’s in his life. Along with his theory on success and failure. I give "Marty, Life Is Short" two thumbs up for this doco that sensitively dissects and discusses his life in a linear fashion from childhood to today and shows you his comedic processes. I’ve been fortunate enough to see the "Steve & Marty" 2019 Tour "Now you see them, soon you won’t". All the feels are here in "Marty, Life Is Short". See more Lydia E. @LydiaEmily 22h So funny and sweet I watched it twice See more Sean B. @Seanananah 1d A testimony to Martin Short’s affability and resilience, I laughed throughout this entire film. Funny and feel-good. Inspiring. See more Read all reviews
