Brian C @RT30987596 3d The Die Hard Franchise lives up to it's name, but this movie is where it became terminal. The plot feels like a carbon copy of every movie in the early 2000's that combined hackers and terrorism. From the peak of fitness in the first movie through the declining health, by the fourth installment, Die Hard descended from having villains portrayed by Alan Rickman, Jeremy Irons to a mild-mannered and charming Timothy Olyphant while sidekicks went from Samuel L. Jackson to Justin Long. Bruce Willis and some fun action scenes carried this movie (to the hospital). Refusing to Die, Hard to watch. Absolutely love how this upgrades his old-school grit into the digital age with insane action. What Worked: • Practical stunts honestly look incredible with a brutal weight that completely pops. • Olyphant makes a great, calculating villain with a lot of sharp menace. • Justin Long’s chemistry with Willis is super fun, balancing tough guy and tech nerd. The Friction: • The F-35 jet chasing the semi truck part near the end really dragged for me. • The PG-13 rating honestly toned down some of McClane’s classic, raw edge. It won't go down in history as a great action movie, but it should be applauded for trying something different compared to the original and for giving us a mighty good, preposterous time. Here, the concept of "more and bigger" was taken and resulted in the worst die-hard experience I've ever had. I've never heard such poorly written and idiotic dialogue; nothing makes sense, the action is excessively bad and unbelievable. Well written and directed. Great cinematography and visually stunning with some new tricks up the effects sleeve.
