The Seaver family arrives at San Francisco International Airport to catch a flight to Canada. They check in their pets: Chance (Michael J. Fox), an American bulldog; Shadow (Ralph Waite), a golden retriever; and Sassy (Sally Field), a nervous cat. But the confused pets burst out of their carriers and escape to the city. The tone is ideal for a family audience. The length is perfect. And the sequence of last-minute surprises elicits tears and laughter in just the right proportions. Go to Full Review

Wee urbanites might find Disney's scorn for city life a shade offputting, but if preview audiences are any indication, little ones will laugh their tiny heinies off at the humor herein. Go to Full Review

Taken on its own entirely hokey terms, Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco is a charming romp of a talking animal movie. Go to Full Review

It's all pretty routine, and it's highly predictable, but the little ones giggled heartily at the screening I attended, and the parents were diverted. Go to Full Review

So pathetic, that the filmmakers are not above making gay jokes about animals in San Francisco! Go to Full Review

Blake- N @PBSAniDom 6d Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco may not reach the same emotional level as the first movie, but it’s still a fairly enjoyable family adventure. The sequel leans more into comedy and chaos, which makes it feel lighter and a little less memorable, but not bad overall. The animal characters still have plenty of charm, and the voice performances help keep the movie entertaining. The city setting also gives the film a different energy compared to the original, leading to some fun moments and decent adventure sequences along the way. Overall, it’s a little less strong than the first film, but still a solid and watchable sequel with enough heart to make it worthwhile. I’d rate it a 7/10. I love it how they discovered the city and learned about kindness to escape from the blood red van and Ashcan and Pete. Shadow, Chance, and Sassy were lost in a city but curiously discovered new life and new adventures in order to go back home unlike the mountains. Delilah was very sweet and attractive to Chance in this movie but Bando won’t let her go. Riley’s gang successfully got rid of the blood red van. I give this movie a 100 out of 100. I wish there was a third Homeward Bound movie but this is the final installment of the Homeward Bound franchise. See more Read all reviews
