What Worked: 60-foot tank gives the underwater scenes a terrifying, tactile weight. Through my Faith Methodism lens, seeing Harry risk his lead to save a competitor’s sister reminds me that true grace prioritizes others over glory. Fiennes presence and Doyle’s darker score perfectly anchor the dangerous climax. The Cuts: The opening act really dragged for me; skipping the Quidditch match makes the campsite attack feel abrupt. Keeping it spoiler-free, Dumbledore aggressively manhandling Harry feels wildly out of character and awkward. Plus, condensing a 600-page book sidelines the day-to-day magic, leaving the trio’s usual sleuthing no room to breathe. Verdict: A stunning, high-stakes turning point. Perfect for intense thrills, but skip if you want cozy magic. Way too much missed opportunities that "had" to be cut or completely changed to stuff into one movie. Was one of my favorite books which is why I was very disappointed in the movie. See more Bret M. @BretM-3 Mar 20 Yet another solid entry into the Harry Potter franchise! This movie has always been unique and (despite not being my favorite) really cool. The Triwizard Tournament is a very fun concept that works very well in this movie. I also like watching the kids grow up in this movie. Obviously they age in every movie, but I feel like the age growth is very obvious in this movie. I do wish we got more regular Hogwarts things, but that's a small complaint. We're giving up a little Hogwarts time for the epic Triwizard Tournament to shine. But perhaps the best part of this movie is the end when we finally see Voldemort return in the flesh! His dual with Harry is awesome and that dual paired with Cedric's death perfectly set up the tone for the rest of the franchise. Overall, really solid movie! However, I was really impressed with the whole cast and the film overall. I can definitely see why the books and movies were so popular and may have to check out the other movies.
