That decision [to reconstruct events] makes the film a much more emotional experience than the documentary and keeps the debate about guilt, responsibility, and the circumstances of the crime alive even after it ends. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

...the narrative follows that of Elize herself. Just keep that in mind, while also acknowledging that she may very well be telling the truth. And remember, this is a fictional take on the true-crime case, so watch it as such. Go to Full Review

Natan T @RT95455979 5d A woman works as a prostitute, manages to get married, and—to avoid losing the perks of married life—kills her husband, dismembers him, and scatters the body parts across the city. In a civilized country with strict laws and a judiciary that isn't becoming increasingly feminist, she would be sentenced to at least life imprisonment. Here in Brazil—a country with a lenient judiciary—she doesn't even serve her full sentence and even gets a movie made about her. 🎞️ See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Jul 27 Elize: Shadows of a Woman had an interesting premise, but it never fully reached its potential. The story moves through major events involving pregnancy, marriage, abuse, wealth, and personal transformation, creating plenty of dramatic moments. However, the screenplay often jumps from one plot point to another without giving the emotional moments enough time to breathe. For much of the film, I struggled to stay invested because it felt unfocused and unsure of what kind of story it wanted to tell. The second half is noticeably stronger, as the tension builds and the narrative becomes darker, leading to a more engaging murder mystery that finally gives the film some momentum. The performances are solid, and the dubbing never became distracting, but the characters still feel underdeveloped. Overall, Elize: Shadows of a Woman has flashes of promise, but uneven pacing and inconsistent storytelling keep it from becoming truly memorable. It wasn’t a bad film, but it simply wasn’t great See more Alberto C @alcbertoo Jul 24 This film created a sense of concern in me. I found it really interesting how the film was structured. In fact, I think choosing to tell the whole story through a flashback, together with the time indications, was the right decision because making the film even more explicit about wanting to tell a true story. Another thing I loved about this film is the way Elize’s character was developed and how her backstory was explored. I also think that Lorena Comparato was excellent in her role as Elize. Finally, I would recommend the movie "Elize: Shadows of a Woman" to anyone who loves crime stories and already knows the true story, but is still ready to have even more doubts than before.
