Critics Consensus

The Wrecking Crew is as brawny and disarmingly charming as its two leading men, smashing through a thin story with colorful pyrotechnics and a satisfying amount of attitude.

Momoa and Bautista, who respectively play a loose-cannon cop and disciplinarian special forces operative, have fun with the action sequences and put some genuine effort into the fractured sibling dynamic. Go to Full Review

Soto blends these bits of comedy, drama, action, suspense, and style into a movie that's a real banger. Here's hoping we get a sequel. Go to Full Review

This lean, mean, R-rated action machine is better than you'd think since Momoa and Bautista take the time, between fights and jokes, to examine the bruised places in the hearts of these half brothers. You feel for them, and that makes all the difference. Go to Full Review

Extremely violent, predictably plotted and more than occasionally puerile it may be, it is hard though to dislike a movie with such swagger, chutzpah and the most evocative use of Air Supply since 2010’s Animal Kingdom. Go to Full Review

One of the film's greatest strengths is the chemistry between Bautista and Momoa, which sustains the movie even when the script becomes predictable. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

The Wrecking Crew is loud, funny, and unapologetically sentimental in the way the best buddy comedies are. It understands that action and humor don’t have to cancel out sincerity. Go to Full Review

Rolf K @RT03878825 2d Watched this on a plane as I had limited options. I liked this way more than I expected. The movie doesn’t take itself too seriously, the action is solid without excessive cgi; the banter was pretty funny; and this actually had a decent plot: I’d love to see these two and the other side kick they picked up in a sequel. Don’t expect a Tim cruise movie but for a fun flick when bored and you like action movies it’s a solid option. See more Alexander F @MissaLyssa 4d A solid movie. Good humour, great cast, excellent violence. The plot is a bit predictable, hence only getting 3½ stars instead of 4, but it's worth watching if youre in the mood for an R-rated action comedy. See more Jerod S @jeroduptown 6d Bautista and Momoa are half brothers reunited after their dad dies unexpectedly. High action, medium comedy but a decent Hawaiian ride. See more Sheree B @SBrea May 2 Stick with it, the comedy comes out the further along it goes, and the plot comes together nicely by the end. Love that there's only strong, proud brown skinned actors leading this film, barely a white face to be seen, the cast is magnificent and the film industry seems to be finally representing! The cast is made up of Japanese, Kiwi, Hawaiian, Pawnee, Philipino... it's just awesome! There's a really powerful scene towards the end between Bautista's character and his children, superbly acted by all three. Mamoa's character is incredibly annoying but redeems himself somewhat. Coming off of watching Stathom's Shelter last night, only made this movie so much better to Shelter's terribleness. See more Tony G @TonyGman May 1 This was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. No real acting stretches, but it was a fun action comedy with enough heart to make it better than the average buddy cop fllick. Turn your brain off and just have fun. See more Chris M @RealReviews67 Apr 30 Not very good. Bautista is ok, Jason Momoa plays an unlikeable ego driven character. Much of the story is unrealistic and frankly hard to watch. Couldn't finish the movie. See more Read all reviews
