Harry W @Tolkspqr 2d A century of gangster movies, and this is the one that, for me, best hits at the truth - little lost boys playing dangerous games. This is Peter Pan as a yakuza parody, cleverly marketed as gimmicky, edgy borderline grindhouse. But it's the intentional realism, deliciously punctuated by visuals like the gang's cheap car, badly driven, on filthy streets, that give it part of its poetry. Context, of course, is everything, but even within the context of the five decades that have passed since its release, even if you make a new yakuza movie tomorrow, Sailor Suit and Machine Gun will be there, in mockery of your posturing.
