Critics Consensus

The Nanny Diaries' miscast lead and unrealistic, one-dimensional characters make this class satire far less effective than it should've been.

What is this film about? Nothing. It's senseless and horrid, patronising to all women everywhere, and extremely tiresome. Go to Full Review

Here's hoping that the very talented [Shari] Springer [Berman] and [Robert] Pulcini get a crack at a script that's worthy of their talents for their third time at bat. Go to Full Review

If you have a cast which includes Scarlett Johansson, Laura Linney and Paul Giamatti, you ought to give them something better to work with than this botched adaptation. Go to Full Review

Aymar C. @RT07819665 14h I honestly was only there for Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans….. See more Alain E @AlainE Mar 17 It gets tiresome after a while, because they didn’t have the sense to limit the exaggerations. In the beginning, the nanny enters the fabulous apartment of her employer and assumes that the master bedroom and bath is her quarters. Really? I abandoned it at the first commercial break. See more Bridgette R. @brissling Mar 8 Only watched it all the way through because of Scarlett Johansson See more Cork B @RT87142816 Mar 1 Not really my kind of movie, but the acting is really good here... ESPECIALLY the kid and the kid's parents. There was some palpable tension there. And then Captain America and Black Widow kiss, so there is that. The nanny stuff, ironically, is less interesting, but she is the foil for the family's issues. See more A.W. E @A.W.E Nov 15 Great Acting. The inner struggle of Annie is partially confusing but that's okay, most of us have been at a stage in our lives where we are stuck and perplexed on the roadway to independence. The wealthy here is depicted as naive and ignorant within the walls of their edifice. A contrast against their polished aura in public. The humourous moments were quite hilarious but stinging in a satiric context. See more Daniel M @MazzaQuePasa Oct 22 It’s not the greatest movie, but it was enjoyable and had a story that hit you in the heart when it ended. It was fun to see Scarlett and Evens together again in their younger years as well. See more Read all reviews
