Alex P @AlP1987 1d Don't bother. Decided to give it a chance since Sacha Cohen is usually pretty hilarious. Couldn't even make it past 20 minutes in this disaster. I truly cannot fathom why anyone would waste their time, and cheapen their image by being a part of this production. Its much like a 70s or 80s movie in which social dynamics are upended to provoke thought, but its so infantile and stupid that it exceeds the use of the word corny. Why was it marketed as a comedy? There is OBVIOUSLY no attempt at humor by anyone in the film. I suspect this is another unholy dump taken by the woke Hollywood crowd. Humor and comedy are the first casualties of the mentally unhinged woke crowd. Theyre only allowed to take a poke at white men. See more L. F @RT68678650 2d In trying to be subversive, the film manages to be even more sexist & out of touch than the tropes it was parodying. Men = crude humour, beer, over-sexed, emotionally barren & shirking responsibilities; women = childcare, cooking, salads, cardigans & cats. Yes, it was purposely stereotypical, but it wasn't funny or clever with it. It was a confused concept & some elements seemed to miss the point entirely! If it was about showing a gender-based power reversal, then having women act more "masculine" when in power & men more "feminine" when not in power was an odd choice & just played for cheap laughs - for the premise to truly work, women should have been valued more for their feminine energy while masculinity is ridiculed & undervalued. If it was to highlight misogyny in the workplace, they did this within the first 5mins - no need for the alternate reality & more subtle forms of misogyny could have been shown. See more Katerina H @RT20988876 6d Yes, it's been done before. BUT this films focus on world building- transforming every signpost, statue, ad, food wrapper, and book- is unmatched. What is the best over any other gender swap film was the change in the duty of care. It captures how people are with each other when no one is watching. RATE THIS FILM HIGHER. Too many male reviewers are downplaying this film. They need a visit from the pigeon man. See more BarnabyJ T @RT04754087 Jul 27 Incredible piece of cinema, well written, great cinematography, and an excellent plot. Sasha portrayed the catalyst for social commentary exceptionally well, we hated him at first, as, from an audience perspective we could resonate with the protagonist, Alex Fox. However, when the roles were reversed it really showed the change in perspective when the males were treated the same as the females at the start, it shows that if a man can truly empathise with a female experience they can understand it and adapt their behaviour having seen its negative impact. We were really hoping for a happy ending and they definitely delivered, overall an all round excellent movie. Having read some of the negative reviews it seems a lot of the men did not understand the true meaning of the movie and did not appreciate its message. Up until then it was unfunny sex trope city. And that should have been the easiest to get laughs. Sacha Baron Cohen & Rosamund Pike were fantastic. Lots of other great cast members.
