There used to be a time where cartoons used to have pivotal moral messages to their stories. This movie captures that. My only complaint is we didn't get to hear Jem's opening theme song. I watched the original while I was babysitting my neighbor way back when, and I liked its silver screen edition. The songs are catchy, the cast is likable and I hope Aubrey Peeples gets another shot at showing off her singing. Hey, Netflix…..why don't you pick this up as a series? The acting is not good overall. At best its generic and at worst its boring, stale dialogue with no real chemistry amongst the actors. Most of the time the acting just comes off as boring more than anything. I really never liked a single character. The music isn't that good half the time it doesn't even tie into the story. The singing itself is ok at best and forgettable at worst. The music in general outside of the song numbers in the movie are not good feeling very out of place and unneeded much of the time. The cinematography is atrocious with constant shaky cam that feel completely unneeded and makes it hard to focus on a scene because of the constant fast editing. That is on top of bad internet, video call, Robot POV shots that don't look good even if you take the shaky cam out. The whole thing looks like a amateur filmed this and doesn't feel like a professional made movie at all. The editing is very bad also with random YouTube videos put in that have nothing to do with the plot and the awkward camera shots constantly changing feel very disorienting. The pacing itself is ok at best as I never felt the movie got boring or a scene went on too long. The plot itself is riddled with plot holes such as why did her Dad know she would ever find the piece at the cub in a random guitar or why didn't Jerrica just tell her sisters about the contract before signing when there within shouting distance just to name a few). The only things I can say about that is positive is it felt like it had a plot (A very badly written one) and it moved at a ok pace. This is a very fundamentally flawed bad movie.
