When his young children are abducted by his old nemesis, Capt. Hook (Dustin Hoffman), middle-aged lawyer Peter Banning (Robin Williams) returns to his magical origins as Peter Pan. Peter must revisit a foggy past in which he abandoned Neverland for family life, leaving Tinkerbell (Julia Roberts) and the Lost Boys to fend for themselves. Given their bitterness toward Peter for growing up -- and their allegiance to their new leader, Rufio -- the old gang may not be happy to see him.

It's not fair to kids. With all his technical flair, Spielberg has created the equivalent of the 70-year-old with dyed hair, troweled makeup, in tie-dyes and high tops. And in doing that, messed with Neverland. Spielberg is old enough to know better.

The result is his most sentimental film, because unlike E.T. it refuses to take up residence within a child's mind, preferring to stay outside and fantasise about it. Condescension is no way to treat a fable.

This movie is brilliant, families loved it, normal ppl also loved it, and as usual critics didn't, why? I'm assuming probably got told to not like it, but even now it's still loved. Movie is about pan seeing Wendy falling in love and growing up, then pirates kidnap his kids and an epic adventure starts to get them back. The kids still love this and it deserves a higher score

This will always be a favorite, top tier movie for me. It's just so beautifully done; and hits all the right emotional notes. Peter's journey of self-discovery, remembering who he was and who he needs to be is so powerful. Masterful work by Robin Williams, Dustin Hoffman, Bob Hoskins, Julia Roberts, Steven Spielberg and everyone else involved with the movie. Hook gets me every time; maybe even more so as I get older. Robin Williams is Peter Pan. Bangerang!

I admit that I might not be an "objective reviewer" as this film is very nostalgic to my childhood. But this film has a very high rewatchability. My kids now request this and on rewatch I’m very unclear on why Stephen Spielberg thought this wasn’t a good film. Unpopular opinion, Robin Williams is at his best here. Dustin Hoffman as Hook really does breathe life into this believable villain. This movie is exactly what it strives to be: a really fun imaginative retelling and spin off of a timeless children’s story.
