Now that Chris and his girlfriend, Rose, have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway with Missy and Dean. It really is impressive how this film gives a really nuanced social commentary on what it is like to experience racism... It expresses the false sense of security of a masked racism right below the surface that others and marginalizes black people.

Great premise. Horror doesn’t come from cheap jump scares or creepy monsters, it comes from people. Some cheesy and goofy parts, but overall a great film. White people are crazy tbh.

As a student taking A level film and actress this was an absolute masterpiece of cinema from the location choice ( the house looking almost too perfect ) to the little hints of life behind the maids eyes. It was an incredible performance along with the framing of it how Chris is mainly off center framed during the beginning to film how relatable and human he is to when he is being hypnotized he is central framing like the maid as if they were forcing him to play a role he didn’t want. I also appreciate how they use an almost cyclical structure like parasite with the deer being hit to being used as a weapon to freedom. Oh my god and the like surrealism was so cool like how he was viewing his life like a movie.
