I don't think I have been so moved by directing and acting since seeing Ironweed back in the 1980's. I had to speak out on behalf of this film because, not only is it a stunning piece of work, but its about everyday people.in my heart I found it to be glorious and devastating all at the same time. Such a wonderful experience. Anna Schafer and Vincent Sabella, you have my vote for sure. May both your futures be very bright. Yesterday my best friend called me and said she had started to get screeners from the Academy Awards. She said come over and lets watch some. We do this every year since neither of us can find husbands but that is besides the point. HAHA She has been a member for 15 years and this is our yearly ritual as soon as the screeners start to pour in. Plus I never have to go to the movies. We began with Dunkirk, but we are not war girls. Then we came across Elizabeth Blue. We looked it up on IMDB because we were not familiar, but my girlfriend said she remembered reading something in the Hollywood Reporter about it. We read about the filmmaker and found the the lead actress talking about it on the Sag-Aftra foundation. We turned it on. In seconds we got chills from the opening music selection and how it was set in a not familiar place. For the next 90 minutes. We laughed, were scared and cried our eyes out. By the end of the film we were stunned in a very profound way. Im an actor also and this film is brilliant. This is the kind a role an actress just beginning her career dreams of. Anna Schafer who played Elizabeth is brilliant. The directing by Vincent Sabella is perfection. The camera work and simple story make this a heartbreaking love story not to be missed. My girlfriend has already placed her vote. I will be voting for SAG for sure if this film it campaigning to the actors branch. Ms Schafer you have my vote! Such a Brilliant film with an important message I can't say enough. P.S. We drank another bottle of wine after the film and continued to talk go back to the film to certain moments and cry our eyes out. SPECTACULAR FILMMAKING! Elizabeth blue is simple pure Love, Joy, and exception no matter what your issue is. The critics that loved this film, You are ver wise. The ones the did't A***********. Thank you for a wonderful night of true cinema and simple storytelling. Gina. See more 11/02/2017 I saw Elizabeth Blue yesterday at a SAG-AFTRA Foundation screening. Let me begin by saying the performances in this film are sensational. Adewale from the television show Lost is so warm as a psychiatrist. I had forgotten how fantastic Kathleen Quinlan is. Where has she been? The standout was the lead actress Anna Schafer who puts a normal everyday face on mental illness. Her performance is not to be missed. Her Q&A afterwards was so heartfelt i cried. The directing of this film, cinematography, editing and producing make this film a masterpiece. I am still thinking about. Well deserved all around. Congratulations!. I just don't understand critics. Listen to the audiences reviews on this one, you won't be disappointed. See more 11/01/2017 This is one of the most important films about modern schizophrenia and mental health out there today since A Beautiful Mind. Also based on a true life story, Elizabeth Blue gives an unflinching sometimes wonderful and sometimes terrifying look behind the unspoken silence of mental illness. Whereas A Beautiful Mind took many liberties and sugar coated most of the film, writer/director Vincent Sabella goes the full distance and like a roach crawling out of a popcorn bag with the over the top CGI movies of this summer, forces you to pay attention. This is a tour de force ensemble performance being lead magnificently by Anna Schafer who leaves you with such a beautiful, moving character that you are still thinking about it for days to come. It's a return to the gritty and incredible films on the nineties that had to use ingenuity rather than expensive magic tricks to get their point across without beating you in the head with a message. As soon as it is available, I will take everyone to see this film. I had the good fortune of catching it in a private screening before it's release. I do believe people will use this film as a teaching point in the future to help people better understand what it is like to suffer from this illness. An important film in history for sure.
