I thought the acting was good. Angelina Jolie is stunningly beautiful. The storyline was light on substance, apart from the obvious. I get & liked the message. I am completely in awe of this film, and honestly, the negative reviews miss the point entirely. Winocour strips away the superficial glamour of Paris Fashion Week to look at the "stitches" holding real women together. The storytelling doesn't rely on cheap special effects it relies on the human face, unspoken tension, and deeply moving life situations that echo long after the credits roll. My partner and I couldn’t stop debating and unpacking the film’s subtle, untold backstories for hours after leaving the theater. Angelina Jolie is simply fantastic. She delivers a quiet, heartbreaking, and deeply vulnerable performance as Maxine that anchors the entire piece, matched beautifully by a phenomenal supporting cast. If you want to support authentic, European arthouse filmmaking that actually makes you feel something, buy a ticket. It is a striking reminder of why we go to the movies. There were three different storylines and no real character development - not enough to truly care and no chemistry with the love interest. The only emotional scene I believed from Jolie was near the end when she was speaking to her daughter (because I am sure it resonated with her own loss of her mom- I believed her there.)
