When a successful New York advertising executive (Will Smith) suffers a great tragedy, he retreats from life. While his concerned friends try desperately to reconnect with him, he seeks answers from the universe by writing letters to Love, Time and Death. When his notes bring unexpected personal responses, he begins to understand how these constants interlock in a life fully lived and how even the deepest loss can reveal moments of meaning and beauty.

Nonostante un cast incredibile, si ha la sensazione che questo intenso dramma sia totalmente artificiale e costruito; senza naturalezza e spontaneità. Tutto ruota intorno agli assurdi comportamenti di un protagonista che non riesce quasi mai a trovare l'empatia dello spettatore, nonostante il grave dramma a cui è stato sottoposto. Tutto intorno a lui ruotano una serie di personaggi con poco spazio per esprimersi nonostante una serie di accenni interessanti alle loro vite che vengono poi ridotti a pochi secondi di soluzione. Il finale riesce comunque ad emozionare seppure si ha la costante sensazione di vivere dentro ad un romanzo e questo crea un divario incolmabile con le forti emozioni che non riesce ad essere superato.

Idk wtf this A- list cast was thinking when they read this script. What an awful story. The way they exploit the emotions of their grieving friend by LYING and messing with his mental health. If you cant see how this is so manipulative and calculated, you probably have no business building relationships.

While I watch Edward Norton movies for him and his acting, this movie made me want to see everyone’s acting. The movie’s unusual story line, to everyone’s chemistry, and funny dialogues made this movie enjoyable. Norton plays a divorced father, a step up from his other roles as a singular character. As one of his modern roles, he plays the role naturally and conveniently as always.
