What’s interesting is that despite the spaceship stuff this isn’t in the slightest a sci-fi film. It’s really a straight-up multi-stranded realist drama where the city itself, evolving and changing throughout, is one of the characters. Go to Full Review

Patrick Leung’s adorable plea for the power of imagination over the destinies life deals us is such a sweet melodrama, it’s hard too launch too many critical barbs its way. Go to Full Review

Ciao UFO proves a remarkably effective piece of storytelling, resonating both as a touching character drama and as an elegy for a vanished "golden age" that now exists only in [Hong Kong’s] collective memory. Go to Full Review

P M @Mind-pool 5d A thoughtful and rewarding watch once you find your footing! Overall, I really enjoyed this movie. As a non-Cantonese speaker, the beginning was a bit of a challenge to keep up with. The plot jumps back and forth between different decades, and trying to track the timeline while keeping up with the fast-paced subtitles made it a little difficult to figure out who was who at first. However, once I got past that initial hurdle and mapped out the characters, the story really pulled me in. It is a deeply thoughtful movie that handles its themes beautifully. If you are watching with subtitles, just give it a bit of time during the opening acts, it is absolutely worth sticking around for! Though the storyline itself is nostalgic and touching, I feel like the the plot didn't fully with the UFO itself. More details on the UFO and the three main characters are needed to present in the storyline to ensure the message is delivered throughout. As for acting, the sadness can be deeper. Overall, a solid movie that worth watching. See more Read all reviews
