Career thief Nick Wells (Robert De Niro) is about to mastermind a nearly impossible theft that will require his joining forces with a clever young accomplice (Edward Norton). [The cast] don't just plot to steal a priceless jeweled scepter... in this absorbing, standard-issue heist flick. They also steal as many scenes as director Frank oz and his screenwriters swipe ideas from other movies.

This movie is still in my Edward Norton collection. I watch every now and then. Robert Dinero co-stars as a theif who is partners with Norton's character. They both try to get the upper hand by stealing from each other in the final act. Who will come out on top?

The Score is an underrated heist film with Robert De Niro and Edward Norton at their best—De Niro the seasoned pro, Norton the unpredictable wildcard. The story is tight, suspense builds well, and the final heist is smartly executed. Marlon Brando, in one of his last roles, is basically playing himself but still brings presence, and Angela Bassett adds solid support. Simple, smart, and very effective.

While having the misfortune of being released the same year as the more iconic Ocean's Eleven and having a few pacing problems, The Score is still an enjoyable heist film in its own right. Edward Norton does a hell of a job keeping up with the two Vito Corleones, Frank Oz does a good job directing the film and once we get to the actual heist, it's a suspenseful sequence that doesn't affect my willing suspension of disbelief like similar films which rely a bit too heavily on NOTHING going wrong. It's not a masterpiece and doesn't focus as much as one might think on the novelty of Robert de Niro and Marlon Brando being in the same movie together but it's still worth a watch to see how Yoda himself tackles this genre.

While the subject matter is not exactly new, it is well reinvented and that is thanks to the cast and a concise script; not to mention the last 40 minutes which are what give the film its vitality. Just the thing for a weekend afternoon.
